Murano is the cradle of the oldest glassmaking tradition in Europe. From medieval times to the renaissance, from the colour developments of the nineteenth century to the most daring contemporary art trends, Murano infuses the tradition of ancient techniques into glass. The craftsmanship, the imagination, the creativity and the originality have made Murano the name of art glass throughout the world! Mediterraneo champions this blending of tradition and innovation to offer a broad and sophisticated range of glassware for all interiors.
Throughout its history Venetian glassware has been synonymous with refined craftsmanship. Characterised by a transparent, light and delicate appearance Murano glass is very different to crystal glass. Its chemical composition allows the manual hot manipulation techniques which have come to typify the uniqueness of Venetian glass forms. The play of light is intrinsic to the beauty of Murano glass and the many techniques which were developed during the renaissance have remained largely unchanged for centuries.
